How to Treat Cracked Feet at Home Fast

Cracked heels, also referred to as heel fissures, are a common foot condition, which can cause discomfort or even pain. They result from dry skin. Cracked heels can be painful and uncomfortable sometimes they might affect your walking style if left untreated. Cracked heel affects more women than men, in most cases cracked heel result from Wearing shoes without socks or wearing sandals and high heels that expose the skin on your feet.

How to Cure Cracked Heels

 

Using an emollient or humectant moisturizer

the cracked heel can be caused by dryness of the skin by applying emollient or humectant moisturizer to the skin it reduces water loss. They fill the gaps between skin flakes, which makes the skin feel smooth, soft, and flexible. They help to reduce water loss in the skin.

Applying an occlusive moisturizer over the top

Once the emollient or humectant is absorbed, people can apply a thick layer of an occlusive moisturizer this can be either lanolin, mineral oil or silicones over the top just before bed to seal the moisture in. Occlusive moisturizers coat the skin in a thin film that prevents moisture evaporating from the outermost layer of the skin.

Wearing 100 percent cotton socks to bed

Socks made of natural soft fibers such as merino wool or cashmere are best. They usually cost more than cotton or artificial fiber socks, but they are well worth the extra money. Make sure the socks you choose are not tight-fitting. putting on cotton socks after you moisturize can help keep your heels from drying out.

Applying a keratolytic to thickened skin

 

Keratolytics are agents that thin thickened skin, applying lactic acid and glycolic acid causes the outer skin layer to loosen, and help with the removal of dead skin cells helping the skin to remain moisturized.

                                                                               

Gently rubbing thickened skin with a pumice stone

this can go hand in hand with lanoline cream, lanoline have strong moisturizing properties, to maximize the effects of the lanolin cream, apply a generous amount to your feet soak in warm water for 20 minutes then rub gently with a pumice stone, before going to bed put on a moisturizer and a thick pair of cotton socks to lock in the moisture.

Shea Butter

Shea butter is rich in fats that make it an excellent emollient and skin moisturizing agent. It moisturizes and gives relief to your dry skin. The oils in shea butter get quickly absorbed into your foot skin, creating a smooth and soft barrier that seals in the moisture.

Tea Tree Oil with Aloe Vera and vegetable shortening. 

Stir up the vegetable shortening until it takes on a smooth texture, add the aloe vera gel and tea tree oil, and mix till it’s completely incorporated. Store it in a clean glass jar with a solid seal. apply it generously in the morning after a shower or after a foot soak, and at night before bedtime, put on cotton socks to seal in the moisture.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is Made from crushing apples and squeezing out the liquid and adding bacteria and yeast to ferment it.

 

Mix apple cider vinegar with two parts of warm water. For every cup of vinegar, add two glasses of water to dilute the usually highly acidic product.  Soaking your cracked feet regularly in apple cider vinegar removes dead, dry, or cracked skin leaving you with soft feet. It also moistens the parched skin to make it supple.

Coconut Oil

Wash your feet in warm water and use a pumice stone to take off the worst of the dry skin before your oil treatment. Oils tend to work better than lotions because lotions absorb into the skin more quickly.  coconut oil is great because it stays solid at room temperature, making it easier to apply without making a mess. Apply the oil liberally, put on a pair of clean, cotton socks, and go to sleep.

Olive Oil
